  1. I just have to say that I was SO excited by what we saw at Laodicea that I had to get on my hands and knees to show things to the students. In the picture Mike posted I'm pointing out how the city of Laodicea is depicted as a goddess, specifically as Tyche, on a pillar. Depicting cities as goddesses and vice versa is something I study in my research, so it is exciting for me to be able to point this out to students. This is exactly why this is a course and not just a trip to Turkey!
